What access looks like in real life

Small barriers become big moments for families.

Digital accessibility is not abstract compliance. It is whether a parent can act, a student can participate, and a staff member can do their job without asking for a workaround.

Enrollment form ✓
For families

Complete the form the first time.

A parent using a screen reader can enroll a child without calling the district for help.

Captions on
For students

Participate at the same time.

A student can use course media, assignments, and learning tools alongside classmates.

✓
For staff

Publish with confidence.

A school secretary or teacher has a clear checklist, accessible template, and place to get help.

See the whole district

One welcoming experience. Many moving parts.

Hundreds of people may create pages, forms, PDFs, videos, and classroom materials. AX4Edu turns that complexity into a manageable system of ownership, standards, support, and verification.

Which date applies?

Use district population - not student enrollment.

For an independent school district, DOJ guidance points to the district population in the Census Bureau’s Small Area Income and Poverty Estimates. A city or county school district generally uses the population of that city or county.

Large state and local public entities

Smaller entities; special district governments also use this date

Important: a school district is not automatically a “special district government” under this rule. Confirm unusual structures with counsel or the ADA Information Line.
